How to use it
- Download your e-Aadhaar from the official myAadhaar website — pick Masked Aadhaar if the full number isn't needed. No PDF? Switch to “Photos of the card”.
- Tap “Select e-Aadhaar PDF” and type its password: the first four letters of your name in capitals and your year of birth, e.g. SURE1990.
- The front and back of the card are found on the page. Check both boxes; if one is off, drag it or its corners onto the card's edges.
- Choose side by side or one above the other, 1, 2 or 4 copies, and “Fold-over card” if you want a two-sided card.
- Tap “Create A4 PDF”, then “Download PDF”, and print at “Actual size” / 100%. Save the Front and Back JPGs too if a form asks for them.
Aadhaar card print size
The plastic Aadhaar PVC card that UIDAI issues is credit-card sized: 85.6 × 54 mm, the international ID-1 card size. The e-Aadhaar PDF has a front and a back panel at the bottom of the letter, but how big they print depends on the printer settings. This tool cuts out both panels and places them on A4 at exactly that size.
| Measured in | Aadhaar card size |
|---|---|
| Millimetres | 85.6 × 54 mm |
| Centimetres | 8.56 × 5.4 cm |
| Inches | 3.37 × 2.13 in |
| Pixels at 300 DPI | 1011 × 638 px (the JPG downloads) |
Front and back on one page
Banks, mobile shops, schools, landlords and exam centres usually want a copy of both sides of your Aadhaar: the front has your photo, name, date of birth and number, the back your address. Printing the whole e-Aadhaar letter wastes most of the sheet on text no one asks for. Here you get just the two card faces, side by side or one above the other, with thin grey lines to cut along.
- Side by side — the classic “Aadhaar front and back on one page” photocopy layout.
- One above the other — narrower, handy when you print 4 sets on one sheet.
- 2 or 4 copies — one sheet for several forms; cut the sets apart.
- Fold-over card — the front and back are joined along a dashed fold line. Cut out the strip, fold it, glue the halves together (or laminate) and you have one card printed on both sides.
How to print at the right size
- Open the downloaded PDF and choose Print. Select A4 paper.
- Set the size to “Actual size”, “100%” or the default scale. Don't use “Fit to page”, “Fit to printable area” or “Shrink oversized pages” — they make the card smaller.
- Measure the line under the cards. It should be exactly 50 mm; if it isn't, the printer scaled the page.
- Print in colour if you can: the photo and the Aadhaar number stay clearer.
Printing at a shop? Give them this PDF, not a photo of it, and ask for 100% scale. Afterwards, ask them to delete it from their computer, and delete it from your WhatsApp chat with the shop.
Your e-Aadhaar never leaves your phone
Many shops and websites want your Aadhaar uploaded or sent on WhatsApp to print it. Here the PDF is opened by your own browser: the password you type, finding the card, cutting it out and making the print PDF all happen on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Use Masked Aadhaar when you can
On the myAadhaar website you can download a Masked Aadhaar: the first 8 digits of your Aadhaar number are hidden and only the last 4 show. It's an e-Aadhaar like the full one, so it prints here the same way. If the office only needs proof of identity, give them the masked copy — and you can also mark the copy “for KYC only” with Aadhaar Card Watermark.
Is this the Aadhaar PVC card?
No. This is a print of your e-Aadhaar at card size — on paper, from your own printer. UIDAI says e-Aadhaar is equally valid like a physical copy of Aadhaar, but a home print doesn't have the security features of the official card (such as its ghost image, micro text and guilloche pattern).
The official Aadhaar PVC Card is ordered from UIDAI on the myAadhaar website (myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in), logging in with your Aadhaar number and an OTP. UIDAI lists the charge as ₹75, including GST and speed post, and says it is normally delivered within 10 working days by Speed Post. Fees change, so check the amount on the UIDAI site before paying.
No e-Aadhaar PDF? Use a photo of your card
Choose Photos of the card, then photograph the front and the back, ideally on a dark table with the flash off. The card's edges are found, the photo is straightened into a flat rectangle and the light is evened out (“Enhanced”), so a slightly tilted phone photo still prints as a neat, real-size card. If a side comes out upside down, tap “Turn 180°”.
