How to use it
- Tap “Select PDF” and choose the locked file.
- Type its password and tap “Unlock”. For e-Aadhaar it is the first 4 letters of your name in capitals plus your year of birth. Files that only block printing or copying open straight away.
- Check what will be removed, then tap “Unlock PDF” (or “Remove restrictions”).
- Tap “Download PDF”. The new copy opens without a password.
Two kinds of PDF protection
| Protection | What it does | What you need here |
|---|---|---|
| Open password | The PDF won't open at all without it — e-Aadhaar and bank statements work this way | The password, typed once |
| Restrictions (permissions password) | The PDF opens, but printing, copying text or editing is blocked | Nothing — the restrictions are removed directly |
The tool shows which of these your file has before you save, and removes both. Only remove restrictions from documents you own or have permission to change.
We remove passwords — we don't crack them
The open password really encrypts a PDF, so there is no honest shortcut around it: you have to know it. ToolDabba uses it once, on your device, to decrypt the file and save an unlocked copy. If you don't know the password, the sender is the only one who can help.
e-Aadhaar password
UIDAI sets the e-Aadhaar password as the first 4 letters of your name in CAPITALS + your year of birth:
| Name on Aadhaar | Year of birth | Password |
|---|---|---|
| SURESH KUMAR | 1990 | SURE1990 |
| SAI KUMAR | 1990 | SAIK1990 |
| P. KUMAR | 1990 | P.KU1990 |
| RIA | 1990 | RIA1990 |
Examples from UIDAI's FAQ. Note that the space is skipped and a dot counts as a letter. e-Aadhaar is also digitally signed: the unlocked copy shows exactly the same details, but its signature can't be verified any more, so keep the original as well.
Bank, credit-card and other statement passwords differ from one bank to another — the email or SMS that came with the statement usually explains how yours is made.
Lossless: nothing is turned into images
Many “unlock” methods quietly print the pages to a new PDF or save them as pictures, so text can't be selected and links stop working. ToolDabba removes only the encryption. Pages, text, fonts, images, links, bookmarks and form fields stay exactly as they were, and the file size stays about the same.
Why you may need an unlocked copy
- Many upload portals (job and exam applications, loan and KYC forms) can't read password-protected PDFs and reject them.
- Printing shops and cyber cafés can print it without asking you for the password.
- Other edits stay lossless — Merge PDF, Split PDF and Compress PDF work best on an unlocked file.
Need it locked again before emailing it? Protect PDF adds a new password with AES-256 encryption.
Private by design
The PDF and its password stay inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so your Aadhaar, statements and certificates never leave your device.
