How to use it
- Tap “Select Photo” and choose a photo of a person — JPG, PNG, WebP or an iPhone HEIC photo.
- The first time, the background remover loads once (about 5 MB). Then the background disappears in a second or two.
- Pick a background: none (transparent), white, light blue, light grey or any colour. Drag the slider on the picture to compare before and after.
- If needed, adjust “Edge softness” or “Trim edges”, then tap “Download” — a PNG when transparent, a JPG with a colour.
How it works — right on your device
ToolDabba uses a small AI model trained to recognise people in photos. It runs inside your browser, so your picture is never sent anywhere: no upload, no account, no watermark. The model finds the person, then a second step follows the real edges of your hair, ears and shoulders in the full-size photo, so the cut-out stays sharp even on a 12-megapixel phone picture. Edge pixels are also cleaned of the old background’s colour, so a green or yellow wall doesn’t leave a coloured outline.
Tips for a clean cut-out
- Stand in front of a plain wall that is a different colour from your hair and clothes.
- Use soft, even light from the front. Strong light from behind (a window or the sky) makes edges harder to find.
- Keep your head and shoulders fully inside the photo, and be the only person in the picture.
- If bits of the old background stay around your hair, slide Trim edges to the right. If part of your shoulder or hair is cut off, slide it left.
Passport, visa and exam photos
Many application forms want a plain white or light background. Choose White (or open the white background photo maker, where it is already selected), download the JPG, then crop it to 3.5 × 4.5 cm in the Passport Photo Maker. For online forms, look up your exam’s exact photo size and KB limit on the exam photo & signature sizes page.
What it can’t do
This tool is made for photos of people — portraits, selfies, ID and group photos. It does not recognise products, logos, animals, cars or other objects, so it will not work for e-commerce product shots. Very fine flyaway hairs may come out slightly soft, fingers held away from the body are sometimes missed, and in a group photo everyone of a similar size is kept. Always check the preview before you use the photo in an application.
