Crop PDF

Cut a page down to the part you need — a certificate without the scanner's empty border, an ID card off a full A4 scan, or a page trimmed to fit the upload box.

How to use it

  1. Tap “Select PDF” and choose your file. The first page appears with a crop box on it.
  2. Drag the box's handles to the part you want to keep, or drag on the dark area to draw a new box. For exact sizes, type the margins in mm. “Auto” removes white margins for you.
  3. Choose which pages to crop: all pages, only this page, or the pages you select.
  4. Tap “Crop”, then “Download PDF”.

What people crop

  • A scanned certificate or ID card — scanners save the whole A4 glass, so a small card sits in a sea of white. Draw the box around the card and crop it to just the card.
  • Big scanner margins — office and phone scanners often leave wide white or grey borders. Tap “Auto (white margins)” and the tool finds the content for you.
  • Before uploading to a form — trim the empty space so the important part is bigger on the reviewer's screen and the document fills the preview box.
  • Slides and e-books — cut the wide margins of a PDF so the text is larger on a phone screen.

Three ways to set the crop

MethodBest for
Drag the boxCutting out a card, photo or section by eye. Corners and edges each have a large handle for fingers.
Margins in mmExact, repeatable trims — for example 15 mm off every side.
Auto (white margins)Removing empty borders. For several pages it picks one crop that keeps the content of every page.

With “All pages”, the same margins are cut from every page — use the arrows under the preview to check a few pages before you crop. Pages that are turned sideways are handled the way you see them: “top” is always the top of the page on screen.

Important: cropping hides, it doesn't delete

Like every PDF crop tool that keeps text selectable, ToolDabba sets the page's visible area (its CropBox — and its MediaBox too, because some portals and printers ignore the CropBox). The cut-off part is still inside the file: anyone with a PDF editor can undo the crop and see it. So don't use cropping to hide an Aadhaar number, an address, a signature or account numbers.

If the cut-off part must really be gone, tick “Delete the cut-off part for good”. Cropped pages are then saved as sharp images of only the kept area, so nothing outside the box remains in the file (their text won't be selectable). For sharing an Aadhaar card, UIDAI's own masked Aadhaar download is the safer choice.

Quality and file size

A normal crop changes nothing but the page boundary: text stays sharp and selectable, scans keep their full quality, and the file size stays about the same. Because the hidden part is still stored, cropping doesn't make a file smaller — use Compress PDF for that. Protected PDFs (with a password or copy restrictions) are always saved as images of the kept area.

Private by design

Your PDF is cropped inside your browser and never uploaded, so ID proofs and certificates stay on your device.

Frequently asked questions

How do I crop a PDF on my phone?

Open this page in Chrome or Safari, tap “Select PDF”, and drag the crop box's corners to the part you want to keep. Tap “Crop”, then “Download PDF”. No app is needed.

How do I crop a scanned certificate or ID card out of an A4 page?

Select the PDF, then drag on the dark area around the card to draw a box over it, and fine-tune with the handles. If the card is on plain white, “Auto (white margins)” usually finds it by itself. Choose “This page” if only one page should be cropped.

Is the cropped part really removed?

Not by default. The cut-off part is hidden, not deleted, so it can be recovered with a PDF editor. To remove it for good, tick “Delete the cut-off part for good” — cropped pages are then saved as images of only the kept area.

Can I crop all pages at once?

Yes. With “All pages”, the same margins are cut from every page. “Auto (white margins)” then suggests one crop that keeps the content of every page. You can also crop only the current page or pages you select.

Does cropping reduce quality or the file size?

Quality stays exactly the same — text and images aren't touched. The file size also stays about the same, because the hidden part is still stored. To make the file smaller, use Compress PDF after cropping.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Cropping happens in your browser, so the file never leaves your phone or computer and nothing is stored on our servers.
