How to use it
- Tap “Select PDF” and choose the file. Password-protected PDFs, such as e-Aadhaar, ask for their password first.
- Choose Text or Logo. For an ID copy, keep “For an ID copy” and fill in who it's for and why — for example “HDFC Bank” and “KYC”.
- Set the colour, size, opacity and angle, and place it once per page (centre or a corner) or tiled all over. The preview updates as you go.
- Tap “Add watermark”, then “Download PDF”.
Why watermark a copy of your ID?
Copies of Aadhaar, PAN, marksheets and passports get handed to banks, mobile shops, landlords and coaching institutes. A line such as “Submitted to XYZ Bank for KYC only — 21 Oct 2026” across the copy records what it was given for. If the same copy turns up somewhere else — attached to a loan or a SIM card you never asked for — it's obvious it was meant for something different, and it points back to where it was handed over.
The “For an ID copy” wording builds that sentence for you: type the organisation and the purpose, and today's date is added. Keep the opacity around 30–40% so the person checking can still read your details.
What a watermark can and can't do
- It labels a copy. It doesn't stop anyone opening, printing or forwarding the file.
- A normal watermark sits on top of the page, so anyone with PDF editing software can remove it.
- Burn the watermark into the pages saves each page as an image with the watermark painted in. It can't simply be deleted, although a skilled person could still edit the image. The text of the PDF stops being selectable and the file gets bigger.
- Share an ID copy only with people who need it, and only the pages they need.
Options
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| Watermark | Text (any language) or a logo — PNG with a transparent background works best |
| Colour | Red, grey, black, blue or any colour |
| Opacity | 10% (faint) to 100% (solid) |
| Angle | Straight, diagonal (45°) or any angle from −90° to 90° |
| Layout | Once per page — centre, a corner or an edge — or tiled all over the page |
| Pages | All pages or the ones you type, e.g. 1-3, 5 |
Long text that doesn't fit a page is made smaller on that page, so it never runs off the edge.
Hindi and other languages
English text is added as real, selectable text. Standard PDF fonts can't show Devanagari or other Indian scripts, so text such as “केवल सत्यापन हेतु” is drawn by your phone's own fonts as a sharp, high-resolution picture and placed on the page in the same way.
The rest of the PDF stays as it was
Unless you burn it in, the watermark is added on top of the existing pages: nothing is re-compressed, text stays selectable, and links, bookmarks and form fields are kept. It also lands the right way up on landscape and rotated pages. Password-protected PDFs are saved with each page as an image and the watermark on top — the tool tells you before you start.
