How to use it

  1. Enter your UPI ID (for example 9876543210@ybl) and the name on your bank account.
  2. Optionally add a fixed amount and a short note, such as “Tuition fee – March”.
  3. Add text under the code like “Scan & pay”, pick a colour, then tap “Download PNG”.
  4. Scan the downloaded code with any UPI app and check the name and UPI ID before you print it.

What’s inside a UPI QR code

A UPI QR code is simply a UPI payment link written as a QR pattern. When someone scans it, their UPI app opens with your details filled in, and they only need to confirm and enter their UPI PIN. The link uses these fields:

FieldMeaningExample
paPayee UPI ID (required)9876543210@ybl
pnPayee nameSharma General Store
amAmount in rupees (optional)250.00
cuCurrencyINR
tnNote shown to the payer (optional)School fees

Where to find your UPI ID

Open your UPI app and tap your profile or photo — the UPI ID is listed there. It looks like name@bank or mobilenumber@bank. Copy it exactly; one wrong letter sends customers to an error screen, or worse, to someone else.

Fixed amount or any amount?

  • Leave the amount empty for a shop counter, where every customer pays a different amount.
  • Set an amount for fixed payments — a monthly tuition fee, an event ticket or a society maintenance charge — so nobody types the wrong figure.

Before you print

  1. Scan the downloaded code with two different UPI apps.
  2. Check the name, UPI ID and amount each app shows.
  3. Ask a friend or family member to pay ₹1 and confirm it reaches your account.
  4. Only then print the final copies.

Tips for shops and small businesses

  • Add “Scan & pay” and your shop name as the text under the code so customers know they’re paying the right person.
  • Print it at least 5 cm wide for a counter, and laminate it so it doesn’t fade or tear.
  • Check your printed QR now and then — fraudsters sometimes paste their own QR sticker over a shop’s code.
  • Receiving lots of business payments? Ask your bank or UPI app about a merchant QR, which can add features like instant payment alerts.
  • Need a code for your Wi-Fi, WhatsApp or website too? Use the full QR code generator.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to make a UPI QR code here?

Yes. The code is created inside your browser, and your UPI ID, name and amount are never uploaded. Payments go straight to the bank account linked to your UPI ID — ToolDabba never sees or handles the money. Always test-scan the code with a UPI app before printing.

Which apps can scan this UPI QR code?

Any UPI app that can scan QR codes can read it, because it uses the standard UPI payment link format. The payer just checks the details, confirms and enters their UPI PIN.

Can I fix the amount in the QR code?

Yes. Type an amount and it is filled in automatically when someone scans the code. Leave it empty if you want the payer to type the amount themselves.

Why does the UPI app show a slightly different name?

Many UPI apps show the account holder’s name registered with the bank, which can differ from the name you typed. Make sure the name and UPI ID you see when you test-scan are yours before printing.

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They are static QR codes: the link, UPI ID or text is stored inside the code itself, not on our server. The code keeps working for as long as the link or UPI ID behind it works.
