Rules for each document

Photograph

  • Official: “Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred)” and “Size of file should be between 20kb–50 kb”; the pre-registration checklist lists “photograph (4.5cm × 3.5cm)”.
  • Read here as 3.5 cm wide × 4.5 cm high and 200 px wide × 230 px high (not labelled in the notification).
  • “Photograph must be a recent passport style colour picture.” Colour, taken against a light-coloured, preferably white, background; look straight at the camera with a relaxed face; no squinting, harsh shadows or red-eye.
  • “If you wear glasses make sure that there are no reflections and your eyes and ears can be clearly seen.” “Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed but it must not cover your face.”
  • “Candidate must ensure that Photo to be uploaded is of required size and the face should be clearly visible, else the application will be rejected and fees will NOT be refunded.”
  • Format comes from the general scanning rule: “The image file should be JPG or JPEG format.”

Live photograph (webcam / mobile)

  • Required in addition to the uploaded photo: “candidates will also be required to capture and upload their live photograph either by using webcam or mobile phone.” “Capture Photo” uses the webcam; “Click here to Scan” opens a QR code for your phone. No pixel or KB limit is given.
  • Do: light-coloured, preferably white background with adequate light; look straight at the webcam / camera; passport-size framing.
  • Don't: small size photograph; coloured glasses / sunglasses / cap; shadow on face, not facing the camera, distorted face, face covered with mask, blurred image; dark or improper background.

Signature

  • Official: “Signature image in .jpg format”, “Dimensions 140 x 60 pixels (preferred)”, “Size of file should be between 10kb-20kb”.
  • “The applicant has to sign on white paper with Black Ink pen.” Signature in CAPITAL LETTERS will NOT be accepted.
  • The signature is printed on the call letter. If the signature on the attendance sheet / call letter at the exam does not match the uploaded one, the applicant is disqualified.

Left thumb impression

  • Official: “File type: jpg / jpeg”, “Dimensions: 240 x 240 pixels in 200 DPI (Preferred for required quality) i.e 3 cm * 3 cm (Width * Height)”, “File Size: 20 KB – 50 KB”.
  • Left thumb impression on white paper with black or blue ink, properly scanned and not smudged. No left thumb → right thumb may be used.

Hand-written declaration

  • Official: “File type: jpg / jpeg”, “Dimensions: 800 x 400 pixels in 200 DPI (Preferred for required quality) i.e 10 cm * 5 cm (Width * Height)”, “File Size: 50 KB – 100 KB”.
  • Declaration text: “I, _______ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.”
  • Write it in English, in your own handwriting, on white paper with black or blue ink; NOT in CAPITAL LETTERS. Written by anybody else or in any other language = application invalid.
  • Visually impaired candidates who cannot write may get the text typed and put their left thumb impression below it.

LIC AAO declaration text

“I, _______ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.”

Write it in your own handwriting in English, not in capital letters, then use the Declaration tab above.

General instructions

  • Scanner: “Set the scanner resolution to a minimum of 200 dpi”, “Set Colour to True Colour”; crop to the edge of the image before uploading.
  • “Your Online Application will not be registered unless you upload your Left thumb impression and hand written declaration as specified.” No certificates are uploaded at the application stage.
  • Exam day: valid call letter with a photograph affixed, original photo ID and a photocopy of it. Photograph and left-eye IRIS are captured at the Main exam and matched with the uploaded photo — do not change your appearance. Right-thumb biometrics may be verified at document verification and joining.
  • Upload guidance: “Important points” on PDF p. 9 and para 12 C “Guidelines for scanning and Upload of Documents” on PDF pp. 10–12. The AE / AAO (Specialist) notification of the same date repeats the same numbers.
  • The only corrigendum (05.09.2025) changes the SC/ST/PwBD intimation charges, not the uploads.

Where these numbers come from

Every value on this page is taken from the official Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) documents below. If a newer notification is out, it takes priority.

Where official sources disagree

  • Pixel sizes are labelled “(preferred)”; the KB ranges are the limits the form enforces (“If the file size and format are not as prescribed, an error message will be displayed.”).
  • Photo: “200 x 230” pixels and “4.5cm × 3.5cm” are not labelled width × height (aspect ratios 0.87 vs 0.78); read here as 200 px / 3.5 cm wide × 230 px / 4.5 cm high. Thumb and declaration sizes are explicitly “(Width * Height)”.
  • LIC's “Aadhaar authentication notice” of 04.11.2025 on the recruitment page could not be opened (server error) and was not checked.

Next update: No 2026 AAO notification on licindia.in as of 24.10.2026 (the 2025 one came on 16.08.2025) — re-check the LIC careers page.
